About Us
The Board of Education is composed of nine citizens elected to serve terms of three years each. Representatives are elected on the basis of constituent population - one from Bass River Township, one from Eagleswood Township, six from Little Egg Harbor Township, and one from the Borough of Tuckerton. Board members have no legal status except when sitting when other Board members in a constituted meeting.
Parents are urged to attend Board of Education meetings on a regular basis. Your interest and support are necessary to your child's education.
BOE Meeting Schedule
Board Meetings
Working Session meetings are held prior to the Regular board meeting each month. At these meetings, the Board discusses issues/items to be voted on at the Regular meeting. Limited Board action is taken at these meetings.
At Regular meetings, the Board takes official action on items to transact the business of the school district. Public comments on agenda items are only heard at the beginning of these meetings.
Executive Session meetings to discuss confidential, legal, personnel, and negotiations items may be held before, during or after any meeting. These meetings are closed to the public in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act ("Sunshine Law").
When May Visitors Speak At Meetings?
The Pinelands Regional Board of Education welcomes and encourages questions and comments from members of the community. Community members wishing to speak may do so during designated times set on the agenda. The Board President will recognize an audience member who wishes to speak. The audience member stands, states his/her name and address, and then address his/her comments and/or questions to the presiding officer. There is a three (3) minute time limit per individual, per Board policy.
Although the public's comments to the Board of Education are welcome, it is important that the community members be aware of the Chain of Command.

Chain of Command
The Chain of Command
Parents are often discouraged when they attempt to communicate with administrators and are sent back to building-based officials in order to resolve a problem their child may be experiencing in school. To prevent that frustration, parents can become informed about the “Chain of Command”. Many parental questions are easily and completely answered by communicating directly with the educator in charge of the class or program. Each situation should first be addressed at whatever level the initial action was taken.
